College Care Packages

It’s that time a year to send some “First Church love” to our college family members. We will be putting together the 8 care packages on Monday, November 23rd. A bin will be in the narthex for care package items and personal notes (these are a big hit and great encouragement).

Some suggested items are gift certificates, hot chocolate, pens, candy, granola bars, baked goods, floss, fruit snacks, popcorn, snacks, lip balm, socks, etc. Any questions may be directed to Sue Poel at 616-510-0760.

Our college family:

Ian DeGram Ella DeWyn Lindsey Dick Matthew Dick

Leah Hoffer Onika Langeland Sydney McCastle Josie Poel

If you have a student in college and their name is no on the list, please contact the church office.

PLEASE HAVE ITEMS TO CHURCH BY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd.

Thank you!

Prayer Praise

Carol Wyngarden received the great news that her recent scan showed no cancer! Her next scan will be in early January. Prayers of thanksgiving to answered prayer. Prayers for relief from nausea and fatigue would be appreciated.

Resignation

The Elders have received and accepted the resignation of Caryn Navis from the office of Elder and therefore also as President of Council. We are thankful for her leadership and service at First Church. Her position will remain unfilled for the remainder of her term (May 2021). Members of her Care Group will be reassigned and will be receiving letters from their new elder within the next week.

Just a reminder we are looking for a volunteer for our next Ignite meeting on Wednesday, November 4, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the Colfax House! Also, we are still in need of either biweekly parent volunteers or a permanent volunteer for the year (can be anyone from church who is 18+) for our biweekly meetings as we technically need at least 3 adults present (we already have 2) in order to accommodate the number of students who regularly attend. Unfortunately, if we do not have 3 volunteers present each time, we are really not able to meet and would have to cancel the meeting. Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this great group of kids! If you're interested in becoming an Ignite volunteer this year, or available for an upcoming Wednesday night, please email Emily Hostetler (emilyteisman@gmail.com). Thank you so much!
